Coming Soon: The Code of Best Practices in Sustainable Documentary Filmmaking

print   email   discuss

The Center for Social Media is proud to announce our latest code of best practices on Feb. 1, 2009. This code is designed to help filmmakers work in the most sustainable ways possible. This code helps you sort out real green strategies from “green-washing.”

This code is being produced with AU’s Center for Environmental Filmmaking and Filmmakers for Conservation. This unprecedented collaboration between documentary filmmakers, academics, not-for-profits and scientists on three continents is aimed at providing scientifically supported information and actions for documentary filmmakers around the world.

If your organization is interested in becoming an endorser of this code, please let us know so that we can share its progress with you.

Look for:

Core principles to guide your strategizing
Checklists to help you implement clear action-plans
Web-based resources to help you calculate your carbon footprint and possible offsets

The code was produced with support from the Ford Foundation, through the Future of Public Media project at the Center for Social Media; from WWF-UK; and the Center for Environmental Filmmaking.
