Susana SaCouto has worked as the Director of Legal
Services for Women
Empowerment Against Violence (WEAVE), a non-profit organization
aiding survivors of domestic violence in the Washington, DC metropolitan
area. In addition to supervising the legal team and managing the
legal intern and pro bono programs, she represented clients in
civil, criminal and administrative matters related to domestic
violence, such as civil protection orders, criminal contempt,
divorce, custody, immigration and asylum proceedings. Susana has
also worked with the Center
for Human Rights Legal Action in Guatemala and with the Office
of the Prosecutor at the International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague,
Netherlands. In addition, she co-chaired the Immigration and Human
Rights Committee of the DC Bar's International Law Section from
1999 through 2002.

Anna
Borodina (pictured right, with 2003 Film Series coordinator and
visual media faculty Seema Goyal), Junior Faculty Development
Program Fellow for the 2003/2004 academic year, hosted by American
University's Washington College of Law. This program is run by
the American Councils (ACTR). Borodina is a PhD candidate and
assistant professor at Tver Center for Women's History and Gender
Studies at Tver State University, Russia. She has degrees in linguistics
and law from Tver State University and a degree in sociology from
the European University in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2000-2001,
Borodina took part in a socio-anthropolgical project studying
Chechen culture and gender identities in Tver region (in depth
interviews with Chechen population of Tver and Tver region, literature
about Chechnya and written by Chechen authors). She also translated
an article about Chechen culture from Russian into English and
interpreted for Chechen women at the conferences in Hungary in
1998.

Peter
Clark is a Senior Associate at the U.S.
Office on Colombia (USOC), a non-governmental organization
dedicated to educating Congress and the public about the human
rights situation in Colombia and the impact of U.S. Policy. Prior
to joining USOC he spent a year on the Peace Brigades International
team in Barrancabermeja, Colombia. From 1999 to 2001 Peter was
the Program Assistant for the Andes, Mexico and International
Drug Control Policy at the Washington Office on Latin America.
He previously worked as a volunteer at the Miguel Agustin Pro
Juarez Human Rights Center in Mexico City.
