Do you remember life before YouTube, MySpace, and blogs? For most advocates, communicating with the public was very different just a few years ago, but one organization was on the edge of new technology long before it infiltrated our daily lives. For nearly 15 years, Alliance for Justice has used new media strategies to engage the public around social justice issues. The group’s pioneering short documentary films, use of blogs and web messaging efforts have helped to change the face of advocacy outreach. Now, as this technology takes hold throughout the non-profit and advocacy world, we invite you to join us for a discussion of these new mediums and how to most effectively use them to help advance your cause.

This event will begin with an interactive conversation between two new media and advocacy trailblazers: Nan Aron, President of Alliance for Justice, and Glen Pearcy, an Academy Award nominated filmmaker. A screening of the short documentary Supreme Injustices will follow the discussion. Hosted by Emmy-award winning actor Bradley Whitford, Supreme Injustices examines the impact of the first full term of the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Roberts. The film tells the personal stories behind two recent controversial cases: addressing the legacy of Brown v. Board of Education, and workers and civil rights. Supreme Injustices details the extraordinary power the Supreme Court has over the lives of all Americans and is a compelling example of how new media can be used to successfully communicate with a broad audience.
