Civic media training
email discuss Posted by JD Lasica on Oct 24, 2008 at 4:02 PM
Everybody is doing social media these days. But who’s doing social media training? More specifically, training sessions for public media—or if you will, public-spirited social media or civic media.
Who’s holding workshops?
What kind of information are you including that’s specific to the public interest, or civic action?
Who are your primary target communities for these workshops?

Discussion
Jessica,
I am seeing social media groups step into the role of teaching nonprofits and the general public how to use social media. In Columbus, Ohio the December meeting of the Social Media Cafe included a great discussion about how the members of the group want to teach others about social media.
In November I decided to start my own company providing social networking workshops to small/medium businesses and nonprofits. I have found there are multiple folks providing these trainings to corporations but very few provide them to everyone else.
I would love to hear who else you have come across who is providing social media trainings.
