Maura Ugarte
Maura Ugarte is an MFA candidate in film and media arts at American University and a graduate fellow at AU’s Center for Social Media, where she works as a media producer and web technologist. At the Center, she co-produced a short documentary for MIT’s New Media Literacy project profiling a community media initiative from Appalshop. She is also a documentary filmmaker and editor in Washington, DC. Among the films she has edited, Waiting for Spring won the 2003 IDA Student Documentary Achievement Award for best documentary, and was distributed by the Dongsoong Art Centre. She also worked as an editor and production coordinator after graduating from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in film and video.
